SOUTH BEND - Gertrude C. Klimowicz, 91, formerly of South Bend, passed away at 11:00 am, Thursday, July 26, 2012 at the home of her daughter, Irene, in Texas. Gertrude was born November 6, 1920 in Warsaw, Poland to the late Valentine and Helena Kulpanowski. On January 26, 1938 in Warsaw, Poland, Gertrude married Vincent C. Klimowicz; he preceded her in death on March 30, 1998. Gertrude was also preceded in death by two brothers and four sisters. Gertrude is survived by daughters, Irene Clark of Boerne, TX and Henrietta (John) Tafelski of South Bend, eight grandchildren & thirteen great-grandchildren. Gertrude retired from the Library after 25 years of service. She was a parishioner of Holy Family Parish. Gertrude loved ceramics, sewing, cooking and baking. Visitation will be held 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm Tuesday, July 31, 2012 in ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 824 S. Mayflower Rd. A Funeral Liturgy will be held at 10:00 am, Wednesday, August 1, 2012 in the funeral home. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery.
