Joseph Louis Novacek, age 79, of Union Pier, Michigan died peacefully Monday, February 28, 2022. His life began January 17, 1943, in Michigan City, Indiana to Charles and Cynthia Novacek, He married Kathleen Keller July 15, 1964, in Three Oaks. Joe was an avid hunter and fisherman. He loved his garden and wildlife. He was helpful and would always lend a hand to anyone. Joe will be greatly missed by family and friends. He is survived by two daughters, Jodyne (Jody) Novacek-Buchanan of Columbia, Tennessee; Diane (Dann) Novacek Sherrill of Mount Juliet, Tennessee; one grandson, Jake (Crystal) Buchanan of Columbia, Tennessee; six great-grandchildren, Kaden, Khloe, Payson, Trinity, Silas, Lilyann; two sisters, Nancy Garvey of Schererville, Indiana; Candy (Wayne) Freehling of Sawyer, Michigan; one brother, Jerry Novacek of Union Pier, Michigan; and a host of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents. Family and friends will gather Saturday, March 5, 2022, at 10:00 a.m. until time of service at 11:00 a.m. in Wagner Family Funerals Pobocik Chapel, 106 Ash Street East, Three Oaks. Mr. Novacek will be laid to rest in Pine Grove cemetery. The family prefers contributions in memory of Joseph be made to The New Buffalo American Legion, Post 169, 19121 US-12, New Buffalo, MI 49117.
