SOUTH BEND - Marie V. Przygoda, 99, passed away at 10:10 a.m. on Saturday, October 1, 2011, in the Sterling House. Marie was born on October 26, 1911, in South Bend, to Lawrence and Frances (Szymanski) Bonczynski. On February 15, 1947, Marie married John F. Przygoda, and he passed away on December 26, 1997. Surviving are his children, Gene (Lynn) Przygoda, Geraldine (Bill) Slater and Caroline (Dan) Blocker. Marie had six sisters and two brothers, and all of them preceded her in death. "Ma Ma Marie" as we affectionately called her also has 7 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild. Her family extends further from that and she has 7 nieces, 6 nephews, and 34 great-nieces and nephews. Marie attended Washington High School and had worked at Wilson Brothers and operated 4 knitting machines making men's socks. She then went to Studebaker's and made arm rests for cars and binding carpets that went in the cars. Throughout her life she continued with sewing for the family, making everything from christening dresses for Baptisms to little coats and bonnets for the girls. Marie always had her sewing machine open and ready to fix anything for anyone who needed help. She was an experienced seamstress who made many beautiful dresses. Visitation will be from 3:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Wednesday, October 5, 2011, in the ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 824 S. Mayflower Road, where a Rosary will be prayed at 4:30 pm. A funeral liturgy will be celebrated at 11:00 am on Thursday, October 6, 2011, in the funeral home. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery. The family would like to thank all the help and affectionate care given to our mom during her stay at Sterling House and all the assistance from The Center for Hospice and Palliative Care.
