EDWARDSBURG - Edward Adolph Breitkreitz, 90 years old, of Eagle Lake, Edwardsburg, MI, passed to his rest July 20, 2015, in Elkhart after a long battle with cancer and other illnesses. He was born Oct. 12, 1924, in Hiles, WI, the son of Adolph and Mary (Dyngus) Breitkreitz. He was raised by foster parents, Jack and Vera Timmerman of River Falls, WI. Edward entered the United States Navy in 1943 and served until 1946 in the Pacific portion of WW II, receiving two battle stars upon his release from duty. He came to the Michiana area and worked as a metal finisher for Excel Corp. until he retired. In 1953, Edward married Clara E. Surviving Ed is his wife, Clara; his daughters, Sharon Breitkreitz of Elkhart and Marcianne (Terry) Farver of Aurora, CO; and a grandson, Justin (Yara) Neuerburg of Albuquerque, NM. Ed has a sister Marie Jacobs of Troy, MI, and a brother, Alex (Rose) Breitkreitz of St. Paul, MN. There are many nieces and nephews. Family who have preceded Ed in death are his parents, a brother, Victor Breitkreitz, and a sister-in-law, Myrtic. Ed was a family-man and he dearly loved being with his family. He enjoyed hunting, camping and fishing. His sports interest centered around the Chicago team "Da-Bears," and he watched the games with a passion. Family and friends may gather at the Paul E. Mayhew Funeral Home, 26863 West Main St. (US-12), Edwardsburg, on Thursday, July 23, 2015, from 5-8 PM to visit with the family.
