George L. Tschida (Jan. 9, 1930 -- June 20, 2005).

Mr. George L. Tschida, 75, died at 10:45 a.m. on June 20, 2005, in LaPorte Hospital. A funeral Mass will be held Thursday, June 23, 2005, at 10 a.m. in Sacred Heart Catholic Church, with Rev. Ian J. Williams and Rev. Dennis Teles officiating. A prayer services will be held today, June 22, 2005, at 3:30 p.m. with Rev. Ian J. William and Rev. Dennis Teles officiating. Visitation will be held today, June 22, 2005, from 3 to 8 p.m. and 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. Thursday in Essling Funeral Home. Burial will be at Patton Cemetery, Thursday following the services. Mr. Tschida was born January 9, 1930, in South Bend, Indiana, to John Tschida and Mary (Steinhofer). On November 26, 1955, in South Bend, Indiana, he married Joan M. Dobbs, who survives. He is also survived by a son, George II (Tammy) Tschida of LaPorte; grandchildren, Amy, Kim and Adam Tschida; a sister, Dorothy (August) Van Paris of South Bend; a brother, William (Pauline) Tschida of South Bend; and cousins, several nieces and nephews. He was a member of Holy Name Society, Hamon Gray American Legion Post 83, P.N.A. Club and Lodge #1120, PRCU, U.S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict.There will be military graveside services held at Patton Cemetery on Thursday. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Vincent de Paul Society of Sacred Heart Church, 130 Bach Street, LaPorte, IN 46350. Arrangements are being handled by Essling Funeral Home.
