SOUTH BEND - Henrietta "Hank" Jurgonski was born on November 7, 1923 in South Bend to Ignatius and Mary (Demski) Rajski and became part of a large Polish family, being the ninth of eleven children. Sadly, all of her brothers and sisters have preceded her in death. On July 13, 1946, Henrietta married Stanley "Bill" Jurgonski at St. Hedwig's Catholic Church. Stanley preceded her in death on March 20, 2000. Hank retired from Sobenite Plastics in 1986. Mrs. Jurgonski was a lifelong resident of South Bend. Hank enjoyed gardening (her flowers), reading the South Bend Tribune in its entirety, listening to Polka music and re-telling stories of the past over and over again to her family and friends. In her later years, going to the casino with family was her favorite pastime. While watching her "programs and pictures" and especially the local news she had a familiar "do not disturb me at this time attitude." She always looked forward to weekend visits from her daughter, son-in-law and grandson who reside in Michigan, video calls from her grand-daughter's family in California, as well as spontaneous visits from her son and his family who live in town. Hank was very proud of her Polish Heritage and the South Bend Polish Community. Mrs. Jurgonski was a parishioner of Holy Cross Catholic Parish for many years, prior to becoming a faithful member of Corpus Christi Catholic Parish. She was also a member of St. Adalbert's Harvest House. Henrietta is survived by her daughter, Nancy (Michael) Bajdek of Grandville, MI, a son, Michael (Eileen) Jurgonski of South Bend; five grandchildren, Brent Bajdek of Fenton, MI, Monica (Andrew) Bennett of Huntington Beach, CA, Andrew (Erica) Jurgonski of Tyner, IN, and Staci (Brandon Shippy) Jurgonski and Rachal (Marcus) Gill of South Bend; and three great-grandchildren, Bodie and Parker Bennett, and Marc Gill. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, September 30, 2015 at the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive, South Bend, where a Parish Rosary will be prayed at 4:30 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 am Thursday, October 1, 2015 at Corpus Christi Catholic Church, with burial to follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, South Bend.
