SOUTH BEND - Rita M. Wozniak, 86, passed away Wednesday, April 9, 2014, in Miller's Merry Manor. Rita was born May 18, 1927, in South Bend, to the late Joseph and Martha (Nowakowski) Wesolowski. On November 17, 1945, Rita married Frank Wozniak; he preceded her in death on December 8, 1988. Rita is also preceded in death by her brothers, Roman, Stanley, Edward, and Robert Wesolowski; and a sister, Lottie Sczerence. Survivors of Rita include her children, Martha Elkins of South Bend, Gregory (Patricia) Wozniak of South Bend, Robert (Klara) Wozniak of New Carlisle; brother, Ervin Wesolowski of South Bend, sister, Joan Acker of Mishawaka, grandchildren, Ronald (Michelle) Elkins, Dawn (Terry) Green of Mishawaka, Tina (Scott) Clark of Cassopolis, Brian (Kathryn) Wozniak of Niles, Brad (Jill) Wozniak of South Bend, Amanda (Justin) Galinsky of South Bend, Jennifer Wozniak of Mill Creek, Michael Wozniak of New Carlisle; great-grandchildren, Jordan Wozniak of South Bend, Lillian Wozniak of South Bend, and Vincent Clark of Cassopolis. Rita retired from St. Mary's Convent after 35 years of service. She was a parishioner of St. John's Catholic Church, and a member the Rosary Society. Rita enjoyed reading, baking, cooking and camping. Most of all she loved spending time with her family and her dog Chloe. Visitation for Rita will be 4:00pm to 8:00pm, Friday, April 11, 2014 in ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 824 S. Mayflower Rd. where a Rosary will be prayed at 4:30pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00am Saturday, April 12, 2014 in St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery. Memorial Contributions may be made to Miller's Merry Manor, 220 East Dunn Road, New Carlisle, Indiana 46552.
