Phyllis J. Dickerson, age 90, of South Bend, IN passed away at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, May 24, 2017 at her son’s home. Phyllis enjoyed working as the Supervisor of the Records Department of Associates-Citi Group and previously worked in insurance for EMCO. Phyllis was born on October 17, 1926 in South Bend to the late Paul and Ida (Lower) Janick. She was married to Herbert Dickerson, Jr. on December 24, 1945 in South Bend. Herbert served in the military during WWII. They lived in Wisconsin for 5 years in their early marriage before moving to South Bend. Phyllis is survived by son Terry L. (Barbara L.) Dickerson of South Bend; grandchildren Anne M. (Matthew P.) Emery, Jeffrey A. (Pamela J.) Dickerson, and Laura K. (Roy L.) Contreraz; great grandchildren Dylan Herthoge and Aiden Emery, Summer and Phillip Contreraz, and Bren, Leigh, and Colby Dickerson; sister Lucille M. Brown of Mishawaka; sister-in-law Janet Miller of South Bend; niece Vickey Muia of South Bend. Phyllis was preceded in death by her husband, daughter Beverly Dickerson, and nephew David Brown. Phyllis was a beloved member of Evangel Heights United Methodist Church. She enjoyed ceramics, gardening, and fishing. Phyllis was also an excellent cook. Private Funeral Services will be held at Evangel Heights United Methodist Church. Rev. Pat Somers will be officiating. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park in Granger, IN.
