Oct. 9, 1911 - Jan. 18, 2008
SOUTH BEND - Sabina Marta Paczkowski, 96, passed away peacefully at 4:15 a.m., Friday, January 18 at Hospice House of St. Joseph County. She was born on October 9, 1911, to Joseph and Mary (Knasinski) Radecki in Janowiec, Poland and came to the United States when she was nine months old. On September 12, 1936, as Sabina Marta Radecki, she married the love of her life, Harry C. Paczkowski at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in South Bend, IN. Sabina was employed for 17 years at the Wilson Brothers Shirt Factory where she was a seamstress. Her sewing skills were so meticulous, that she only stitched the shirt collars and necklines for "demonstration shirts". These, the salesmen took on their sales calls. There were many things that she enjoyed in her life. She raised flowers, and grew primarily pansies, roses, and African violets. Sabina was a huge fan of Martha Stewart, a wonderful cook, and a lover of crafts. Every Christmas, she handcrafted beautiful ornaments for her family. Through the years, Sabina remained most proud of both her artistic and Polish Catholic heritages. She adored and was devoted to her family and always willing to give a helping hand; Sabina was a "second mother" to her nieces and nephews. "Auntie Bea", as she was fondly called by her family, will be sorely missed by all. Preceding Sabina in death were her husband, Harry C. Pazckowski; parents, Mary and Joseph Radecki; two sisters, Bernice Sopczynski and Antoinette Radecki; and brother, Roman Radecki. Surviving Sabina is her sister, Harriet Pajakowski of Gurney, Illinois; brothers-in-law, Benedict Sopczynski and Richard (wife, Louella) Paczkowski; and sister-in-law, Adell Radecki of South Bend. Her nieces and nephews are Mary Ellen (husband, Dean) Adams, Barbara (husband, Thomas) Gruszynski, Christine Sopczynski, Ann (husband, Neal) Pence, Larry (wife, Nancy) Pajakowski, Michael (wife, Melissa) Radecki, Martin (wife, Debbie) Radecki, Ronald (wife, Kay) Radecki, Monica Radecki, Allana (Jeffrey Morris) Radecki, Joseph Chimiel, and Patricia Wolfe. Also, she has great and great-great-nieces and nephews. "I live for those who love me, For those who know me true, For the heaven that bends above me, And the good that I can do; For the wrongs that need resistance, For the cause that lacks assistance, For the future in the distance, And the good that I can do." -Thomas Guthrie Family and friends may visit from 2 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, January 22, 2008, in Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive, South Bend, where a Parish Rosary will be recited at 4:30 p.m. Church services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 23, 2008, in Stanislaus Catholic Church, South Bend, IN. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Polish Roman Catholic Cemetery.
