MARIA VIOLI
May 3, 1923 - Sept 30, 2008
MISHAWAKA - Maria Violi, 85, passed away in Memorial Hospital, South Bend, on Tuesday, September 30, 2008. Maria was born on May 3, 1923, in Plati, Italy, to Gesofotte and Maryanna (Micele) Mittiga. She was preceded in death by her parents, and two sisters, Rossina Mittiga and Francesca Timpani. On September 22, 1960, in Italy, she married Domenico Violi. They moved to America from Italy in 1962. Domenico passed away on May 28, 1999. Surviving Maria are her son, Tony Violi of Mishawaka, and a brother, Giuseppe Mittiga of Rome, Italy. Maria was a warm, loving, caring person. She could always make you smile. Family and friends were the most important thing to her. She was a member of St. Monica Catholic Church with a very strong faith in God. She loved to cook everything from scratch. She took great pride in her home and was devoted to praying the Rosary. Her faith was her strength and she was a devout follower of St. Theresa. Family and friends may visit on Thursday, October 2nd, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m., with a Rosary at 3:30 p.m. in the Hahn Funeral Home, 505 W. 8th Street, Mishawaka. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, October 3rd, at 10:30 a.m., with visitation one hour prior in St. Monica Catholic Church, Mishawaka, with Rev Jeffery Largent officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery, Mishawaka. The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to St. Monica Catholic Church, 222 W. Mishawaka, Mishawaka, IN 46545.
