GOSHEN - Emery Antalavits, 77, of Goshen, passed away peacefully Monday, February 29, 2016, after a lengthy battle with dementia, at Riverside Village, Elkhart, IN. The family generously donated Mr. Antalavits' body to the Indiana University School of Medicine, Indianapolis, IN. No services were held. The family requests that in lieu of other tokens of sympathy, memorials be made to Harbor Light Hospice, Mishawaka, IN. Mr. Antalavits was born in 1938 in South Bend, IN to Emery and Rose Antalavits. Mr. Antalavits was a lifelong resident of the area, until moving to Goshen in 2005. Emery graduated from St. Joseph High School in 1957. Following high school, he attended and graduated from DeVry Technical Institute in Chicago, IL. While attending DeVry, Emery worked part-time at the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago. Emery was united in marriage to Jo Ann Nemeth on September 4, 1971, in South Bend. Following his marriage, Emery opened Kemble Audio Service. The business was in operation from 1971 until Mr. Antalavits' retirement in 2003. Survivors include his wife, Jo Ann; son, Emery (Kristin) Antalavits of Goshen; his beloved grandson, John; and his mother-in-law, Elizabeth Nemeth of South Bend. He was preceded in death by his parents. The family wishes to extend their appreciation to the caring staff of the Harbor Light Hospice. Published in South Bend Tribune on Mar. 15, 2016
