SOUTH BEND - Stephen J. Gorbitz, age 86, of South Bend, Indiana, died on June 25, 2013, at Healthwin after a 2-month illness. Stephen was born on January 3, 1927, to Michael and Lena (Giczi) Gorbitz. He is survived by his wife, Anne (Molnar) Gorbitz. Stephen leaves behind three children, Denise M. Gorbitz of South Bend, Michael J. Gorbitz of Chicago, IL, and Patric Gorbitz of Aspen, CO (Heidi); four grandchildren, Alison, Nicholas, Cheyenne and Logan; and two great-grandchildren, Katelynn and Kalli. Steve graduated from South Bend Central High School and served in the U.S. Navy. He worked at Studebaker, Bendix, Krizman, and the University of Notre Dame. A memorial Mass will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Monday, July 1, 2013, in the Basilica of the Sacred Heart, Notre Dame.
