Nicholas Dovanczki, 72, of 1706 S. Catalpa St., died at 11:05 a.m. Thursday in Osteopathic Hospital after a lengthly illness. He was retired from South Bend Lathe Works. He was born on March 28, 1910 in Fertoszentmiklos, Hungary, and lived in the South Bend area for 61 years coming from Hungary. On Oct. 14, 1933, in South Bend, he married Anna Gosztola, who survives with a sister, Mrs. Mary Varga of South Bend. Service will be held at 9 a.m. Saturday in Our Lady of Hungary Catholic Church, with Rev. Anthony Molnar, assistant pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Sacret Heart Cemetery. Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. today in the Zahoran Funeral Home. A rosary will be recited at 7:15 p.m. today by the St. Ann Society. He was a member of the William Penn Club and the Hungarian Holy Name Society. From the South Bend Tribune newspaper September 9, 1982.
