South Bend - Barbara Vivian (Martin) Dials, 79, passed away Friday, May 14, 2021 in Healthwin Hospital with her family at her side. Barbara was born December 2, 1941 in Goshen to the late Glenn and Dolly (Vance) Martin. Barbara married James H. Dials on June 24, 1961, and he preceded her in death on January 4, 2000. She is also preceded in death by two sons, Rodney & Ryan Dials; and her sister, Judy Martin. Left to cherish the memory of Barbara are her three children, Ronald (Pamela) Dials of South Bend, Rhonda Wiesjahn (Robert) of Mishawaka, and Robert Dials of South Bend; two grandchildren, Ronald (Stephanie) Dials, Jr. of Chicago, Kayla Dials of South Bend; three sisters, Sharon Grahl of Niles, Glenda Klemczewski of Mishawaka, and Robin Harroff (Jeffery) of South Bend. Barbara retired from Memorial Hospital in 2007 as the head computer operator after 30 years of service and never missing a day of work. She enjoyed spending time with family especially her two grandchildren, never missing a sporting event they were involved in. Barbara enjoyed baking for family and coworkers. She was a season ticket holder for Notre Dame women’s basketball and loved watching them play. Her son Robert was her primary caregiver until she went to Healthwin Hospital on May 7, 2021 and took exceptional care of her. The family would like to thank her caregivers at Healthwin for being so compassionate and kind to Barbara and the entire family. Visitation for Barbara will be 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Monday, May 17, 2021 in ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 824 S. Mayflower Rd. A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, May 18, 2021 in St. Joseph Funeral Home with one hour visitation prior to the service. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery.
