SOUTH BEND - Loretta R. Klimek, 90, of South Bend, passed away on Sunday April 23, 2017 at Memorial Hospital. She was born on May 22, 1926, in South Bend, to the late Joseph E. and Clara L. (Piechocki) Mikolajczak. On July 21, 1945, as Loretta R. Mikolajzcak, she married Eugene S. Klilmek, who survives. She is also survived by her three daughters, Tammy A. (Chris) Blanchard of Niles, MI, Cheryl L. (Roger) Riewe of Granger and Cindy Lappan of Mishawaka; her sons, Kenneth E. Klimek of South Bend and Thomas A. (Suzi) Klimek of Granger; 20 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two daughters, Connie in 1982 and Jeannie in 2015. Loretta was Busia to younger generations and Lulu to old friends. A visitation will be held from 2 to 8 p.m. Thursday April 27, 2017 at the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Dr., South Bend, where a vigil will be prayed at 4 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday April 28, 2017 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 226 N. Hill St., South Bend. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society , the American Heart Association or The Leukemia And Lymphoma Society . 70th Wedding Anniversary
Loretta and Eugene Klimek of South Bend celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary recently with a family celebration dinner. Mr. Klimek and Loretta Mikolajczak married July 21st, 1945, in St. Adalbert Catholic Church. They have six children, Jeannie Harringer, Cindy Lappan and Ken Klimek all of South Bend, Tammy Blanchard of Niles, and Cheryl Riewe and Tom Klimek of Granger. A daughter, Connie Jambor is deceased.
