Berrien Springs - Janet Pitts Miskiewicz, RN, 87, of Berrien Springs died Monday, March 1, 2021, at her home. The public is invited to share her celebration of life gathering at 4 PM on Sunday, June 13, at the Will Miskiewicz property on Edgewood Road in Oronoko Township. There will be campfire circles, food and live music beginning at 8 PM. For further information see the May 12 edition of the Journal Era. Cremation has taken place. Memorials may be made to the Neighbor to Neighbor Program (www.n2nhelps.com). Arrangements are by the Fairplain Chapel of Florin Funeral Service in Benton Township. Please share messages, memories or photos at www.florin.net. Janet was born Nov 30, 1933 in Chicago to Albert and Elizabeth Pitts. She married Alexander Miskiewicz and he preceded her in death in 1996. Janet was a Registered Nurse and was employed at several different places including the Dowagiac Nursing Home where she became the Administrator after her husband. She also was employed at several of the doctors' offices until her retirement in 2013. She was a member of the Village Seventh Day Adventist Church and she was a 30 year longtime volunteer at the Neighbor to Neighbor Program which is part of the Adventist Community Service organization. Janet enjoyed gardening and was an avid bird watcher. She will be missed by all who knew her. Her family includes her 4 children; Will Miskiewicz of Berrien Springs, James Miskiewicz of Apopka, FL, John Miskiewicz of Orlando and Alexander Miskiewicz of TN, her sisters, Aleta McCarthy of Park Forest, IL and Ginger York of Aurora, Il and her 6 grandchildren.
