Stanley B. Grohowski

CASSOPOLIS - Stanley B. Grohowski, 92, of Cassopolis, Michigan, passed away Friday, July 3, 2015, in his home. Stanley was born on September 7, 1922, in Anderson, Indiana, to Joseph and Alice (Oleksky) Grohowski. He had been a partner with his brother, Sylvester Grohowski, owning a dairy farm in Cassopolis for 51 years. Stanley had also been employed with Torrington, and part-time at the Kaniewski Funeral Home. On September 27, 1947, in St. Hedwig Church, he married Adeline Kaniew-ski, who preceded him in death on November 11, 1992. He was also preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Alice Grohowski; one sister, Stella Kulesia; and two brothers, Chester and Sylvester Grohowski. Stanley is survived by his son, Kenneth S. Grohowski of South Bend, Indiana; his granddaughter, Lisa Gro-howski of Indianapolis, Indiana; two sisters, Jenny (Pete) Orlicki and Dorothy (Jake) Janiak, both of South Bend, Indiana; two brothers, Joseph (Henrietta) Grohowski of South Bend, Indiana, and John (Maxine) Grohowski of Edwardsburg, Michigan; and his longtime companion of 19 years, Theresa Sikorski. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 8, 2015, in St. Hedwig Church. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery. A visitation will take place from 2-8 p.m. Tuesday in the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive, where a Rosary will be take place at 6:30 p.m. Stanley was a W.W. II veteran. He was a member of St. Hedwig Parish, Golden Cluster, and Holy Name Society. Stanley loved farming. He was a member of the National Farmers Organization (NFO). He enjoyed Notre Dame football, the White Sox, the Green Bay Packers, and NASCAR. Memorial contributions may be directed to Hospice at Home, 4025 Health Park Lane, St. Joseph, Michigan 49085.
