[N18261] John J. Sacks, age 81 of Michigan City, IN, died Sunday, August 1, 2010 at St. Anthony Memorial Hospital. The funeral service will be held Friday, August 6 at 10:00 a.m. at Carlisle Funeral Home with Rev. William H. Fine officiating. Visitation will be Thursday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Entombment will take place at Swan Lake Memorial Gardens, Michigan City. John was born December 23, 1928 in LaPorte, IN to John F. and Lillie O. (Wothke) Sacks both of whom are deceased. On August 18, 1951 in LaPorte, IN he married Norma B. Jones, she passed away in 2007. Surviving are his daughter, Deborah Irene (Mark Tubbs) Sacks of Michigan City, son Bruce Alan (Linda) Sacks of Euless, TX; grandson, Scott M. Sacks, Euless, TX; great granddaughter Morgan Sacks; sisters, Phyllis (Robert) Bayer and Katherine (Joseph) Mrozinski. He was preceded in death by his sisters Irene Sharkey, Gladys Reed and Leota Karras, and brothers Wilfred, Delbert and Norman Sacks. John was letter carrier for the U.S. Postal Service in Michigan City for over 32 years. He was a member of Moose Lodge #980, and Phi Delta Kappa. He loved to fix things, enjoyed sports and his dogs, Buddy and Teddy. Memorial contributions may be made to St. John's United Church of Christ.
