Born in Mishawaka on April 30, 1930, Bill was the only child of Harry and Esther Cambron of North Byrkit Street. He served in the Marine Corps from August 15, 1951 until retiring from service on August 14, 1954, having achieved the rank of Staff Sargent. It was while he was stationed on the Marine base in Kaneohe Bay, Oahu, Hawaii that, on May 26, 1952, he married his wife DeVere Mack, a native of Elkhart. Bill attended the Beiger School, Mishawaka High School, and later earned a degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Notre Dame. He was employed for nearly his entire career by Uniroyal, including many years at the Ball Band in Mishawaka. His career took him to Salt Lake City, UT; Fort Lauderdale, FL; and travels throughout Central and South America and the Caribbean as the head of regional sales for Uniroyal International, before settling back in the South Bend region in retirement. He was pre-deceased by his wife, who died in April 2003 after a long bout with Multiple Sclerosis. He is survived by three sons: David (Sue) of Lafayette; John of South Bend; and Steven (Matthew Leaycraft) of New York City; one granddaughter, Rachel, of Bloomington, IN; and his friend Nancy Fiwek of South Bend. Bill was a dedicated husband and father, and a doting companion to numerous miniature schnauzers. He left an impression on all who knew him and will be remembered for his intelligence, clever wit, strong sense of responsibility, and above all, his loyalty to DeVere.A brief memorial service will be held at 3:00pm Thursday, October 7, 2021 at Palmer Funeral Home-Bubb Chapel, located at 3910 N.
