Robert “Bob” C. Watkins, Jr. of Mishawaka, Indiana passed away at Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center on March 3, 2023 after a brief illness. Robert was born in South Bend, Indiana on August 28, 1953 to Robert and Florence (DeRucki) Watkins who both preceded him in death. He is also preceded by his only sister, Kathaleen Highland and one brother, John Watkins. Robert is survived by his brothers, Anthony (Tina) Watkins of Mishawaka and Lance Watkins of South Bend, as well as several nieces and nephews.Bob worked many places throughout his life including Dodge MFG, Furrows, Wickes Lumber, meat cutting at Kroger, and also taught jiu jitsu for a time. Bob could be seen around town most mornings, weather permitting, taking his Beagle for a walk as Bob rode his mobility scooter. Bob would pass out treats to his Beagle’s canine friends as they traveled, often having brief conversations with others out doing the same thing he was. Bob had a kind heart to those who helped him as he would tip them generously. He lived independently, engineering all the things necessary to aid in his well being on his own. His disability slowed him at times but did not stop him. Bob will be missed by all those who knew him. Per Bob’s wishes, there will be no services. Palmer Funeral Home - River Park Chapel is assisting the family with cremation.
