GRANGER - Mr. Albert John Szoke, 63, of Granger, passed away following a brief illness at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center Sunday, July 28, 2013, at 6:30 pm. Albert was born in South Bend to the late Gabriel Szoke Jr. & Julia (Molnar) Szoke Wright on June 14, 1950. On May 1, 1971, he married his wife of 42 years, Pamela Dee (Horvath) Szoke, who survives of Granger. Other survivors include their son, Michael Albert (Jillian Zeeff) Szoke of Granger; their 2 puppies, Dexter & Molly; his six siblings, Richard (Barbara) Szoke of Arizona, Delores Leap of Mishawaka, Gabriel (Patty) Szoke III of Arizona, Ronald (Thelma) Szoke of Michigan, Robert (Audrey) Szoke of Arizona, Rosemarie (Thomas) Mossell of Michigan; a sister-in-law, Vicki (Larry) Gimson of Granger; a former brother-in-law, Thomas (Lois) Danielson of Elkhart; and numerous nieces & nephews; as well as many friends and neighbors and their families and grandchildren. Albert always enjoyed a Pepsi and a cigarette whenever he wasn't taking a nap or working in his garden. Mr. Szoke was a carpenter and had his own home improvement business for 25 years, retiring in 2007. Friends may call on Thursday, August 1st, from 3-5 & 6-8 pm at McGann Hay Funerals | Cremations | Gatherings, Granger Chapel, 13260 SR 23, enter off Cherry Road. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 2 pm Friday, Aug. 2, 2013, at St. Pius X Catholic Church, with Msgr. Willaim Schooler officiating. Friends may call from 1-1:50 pm in the church before Mass on Friday. Cremation will follow at McGann Hay's American Cremation Society. To honor Mr. Szoke's memory, in lieu of flowers, the family requests you consider a donation to your own favorite charity.
