ELKHART - John A. Bella, 71, of Elkhart, passed away April 7, 2014, at Elkhart General Hospital after an extended illness. He was born June 1, 1942, in South Bend, to Joseph and Violet (Stull) Bella. He married Mary Beth Hess in 1986 in Elkhart. She survives along with John's children, Monica (Bill) Slonaker of Logansport and Tony (Janienne) Bella of Edmond, OK; 5 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Peggy (Bob) East of Kenosha, WI. He was preceded in death by his parents. John graduated in 1960 from John Adams High School in South Bend and served in the U.S. Navy on board a destroyer. He worked for Miles Laboratories / Bayer Corp. for 33 years in the printing dept. He then worked for Dec-O-Art for 13 years until his health declined. Per John's wishes, there will be no visitation or services and cremation will take place. Memorials may be given to Harbor Light Hospice.
