Wakarusa-Maxine Przestwor, 90, passed away on Thursday, October 19, 2017 in Miller’s Merry Manor, Wakarusa. Maxine was born on September 26, 1927 in Florence, AL to the late Jessie Lanie and Elva Arizona (Childress) Caston. She was preceded in death by her parents. Sons Phillip and Jesse Barrierand one grandson Travis Smith She married Ernest Barrier who preceded her in death and then married Stan Przestwor who also preceded her in death. Surviving are her children, Carolyn (David) Smith of Osceola, David (Peggy) Barrier of South Bend, Janie (Larry) Gennicks of Elkhart and Rick (Patty) Barrier of Elkhart, a daughter in law Debbie Barrier of Osceola; 12 grandchildren, Clay Ledford, Brent Smith, Chad Barrier, Wayne Barrier, Rick Barrier, Christopher Barrier, Joe Barrier, Dawn Barrier, Joe Gennicks, Jennifer Gennicks, Kristina Gennicks and Rick Barrier and many great grandchildren. Maxine will be remembered for her love of gardening and the way she gave special attention to her Roses. All through her life Maxine had a love and appreciation of music. In her younger years she sang Gospel music with her sister on the radio. She was a strong and determined person. Maxine was mowing her own grass and blowing her snow with pull start engines well into her 80’s. Visitation will be on Monday, October 23, 2017 in Hahn Funeral Home, 505 W. 8th Street, Mishawaka from 12 to 2 p.m. Funeral service will immediately follow at 2 p.m. Burial will be in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola.
