South Bend - Paul Richard Batton, 66, passed away Sunday, December 26, 2021. Paul was born April 19, 1955 in South Bend to the late Alice (Strzelecki) and Everett Batton. Paul was also preceded in death by a sister, Lorraine; and brother, Donald. Left to cherish the memory of Paul are his children, Paul (Jessica) Batton, Jr., Shannah Forrester and Adam (Emily) Batton; grandchildren, Austin, Alicia, Hannah, Ava, Breanna, Adelyn, Elyza, Lucas, Colton, & Audrey; and one great-granddaughter arriving in January; and his lifelong friends and caretakers, Sharon Batton-Ransberger and Michelle Otolski. Paul worked for South Bend Stamping, and then the Street Department until retiring in 2009. He was an avid Chicago Bears fan and enjoyed celebrating Dyngus Day every year. Paul had a passion for Mustangs and automotive care, specializing in restoration and bodywork. He raced at South Bend Motor Speedway, and in 1992 his race team set the Late Model track record there. He was very kindhearted to everyone. Paul loved raising his children and cherished all the time he spent with them. He loved coaching their Little League games, family vacations, cruising in his 68 Mustang, and taking them to car shows. Paul also taught them how to cook and work on vehicles. His favorite child was his fur baby, Maggie. Visitation will be 3:00 pm to 8:00 pm Monday, January 3, 2022 in ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, S. Mayflower Rd. A Funeral Service will take place at 11:00 am on Tuesday, January 4, 2022 in the Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery.
