Theresa Rose Solmos, 87, of St. Paul's Retirement Community, passed away at 1:20 p.m. on Wednesday, July 17, in the Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center. Mrs. Solmos had worked at White Farm Equipment. She was a member of St. Jude Catholic Church and the Sacred Heart & Rosary Society of Our Lady of Hungary Church. Theresa was born on Jan. 17, 1915, in South Bend, Ind., to John and Louise Gruber. On June 27, 1935, in South Bend, she married John C. Solmos, who died on March 28, 1968. Mrs. Solmos was also preceded in death by two brothers, John Gruber and Frank Gruber; and by a sister, Cecelia Prestzwor. She is survived by two daughters, Patricia Ann (Robert) DeWolf of Winter Haven, Fla., and Janice Jarvie of Arvada, Colo.; a son, John A. (Marie) Solmos of South Bend; six grandchildren, Cynthia Weller, Karen Genta, Bruce Jarvie, Brent Jarvie, Jon Solmos and Jacqueline Solmos; six great-grandchildren, Alexis, Claire, Madeline, Madeleine Rose, Olivia and P.J.; and by three sisters, Louise Niemann, Hedwige Horvath and Margaret Redling, all of South Bend. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. today, July 19, in St. Jude Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Highland Cemetery. Family and friends called from 3 to 7 p.m. Thursday in the Zahoran Funeral Home, 1826 S. Kemble Avenue, where a Rosary was recited at 3:30 p.m. by the Sacred Heart & Rosary Society. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul's Retirement Community.
