SOUTH BEND - Esther B. Jankowski, 94, passed away Tuesday, September 10, 2013, at The Center for Hospice and Palliative Care. Esther was born September 8, 1919, in South Bend, to the late Valentine and Antoinette (Glon) Pietraszewski. On September 27, 1941, in St. Adalbert's Church, Esther married Alex "Al" Jankowski. He preceded her in death on January 17, 1998. Esther was also preceded in death by brothers, Henry and Aloysius Pietraszewski; and sisters, Sophie Brzyski and Henrietta Bogucki. Survivors include daughter, Carole (David) Coffman of Granger; grandchildren, Michael (Julia) Coffman of Houston, TX, Daniel (Tracey) Coffman of Mooresville, NC, and Melissa (Paul) Reiser of Milwaukee, WI; and great-grandchildren, Kerri, Kelli, Ryan, Brandon, Noah, Ian and Luke. Esther was a lifelong parishioner of St. Adalbert Catholic Church. She was a member of the Rosary Society, Sisters Auxiliary, Harvest House, Daughters of Isabella Circle #572, Polish Falcons of America Nest 185, American Legion Auxiliary Post 357 and West Side Democratic Club. She adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Visitation for Esther will be 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm, Sunday, September 15, 2013, in ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 824 S. Mayflower Rd., where a Rosary will be prayed at 4:00 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am Monday, September 16, 2013, in St. Adalbert Catholic Church. Entombment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery. The family would like to extend a special Thank You to the staff at Center for Hospice for their loving support and care.
