LANSING - Charles L. Rhoades , 84, was born on May 10, 1924, in Lansing, MI, the son of Earl Rhoades and Goldie Bissel. Chuck grew up on South Street, attended Central High School until enlisting in the Navy and served honorably through World War II. He returned to his hometown after the war, married Catherine (Wincek) Rhoades on April 29, 1950, and raised a family while operating small businesses in the area until he retired. Mr. Rhoades sponsored teams at Morris Mathis Little League, was a member of various fraternal organizations including the Moose, American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Masons. Known for his generosity, he is survived by his wife, Catherine; brothers, Danny Rhoades (CA) and Jack Rhoades (NC); children, Ronnie Rhoades , Judy Rhoades /Smith, John Rhoades and Tracy Freymuth; along with 12 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. No formal service will be held for Mr. Rhoades but calls and visits by family and friends to support Mrs. Rhoades would be appreciated. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the American Cancer Society.
