LAKEVILLE - Michael A. Dalka, 74, passed away Saturday, April 18, 2015 in his residence, surrounded by his family. Mike was born August 20, 1940 in South Bend to the late Sylvester and Mary (Toth) Dalka. On April 21, 1984 Mike married Jane (Gall) Dalka; she survives along with their children, Jessica Dalka of Chicago, Alyssa Dalka and Zachary Dalka of Lakeville, Jennifer (Fred) Girard of Lake of the Woods and Marilynn Dalka of LaPorte; grandchildren, Elaina, Justin, and Tyler; great-grandchild, Samantha; a brother, John (Sylvia) Wamsley of Birmingham, AL; and Mike's friend and "brother", Dan Zemanek. Mike honorably served his country in the United States Navy. While serving in the U.S. Navy, he continued his education in the field computer technology. He worked as a computer analyst at the University of Notre Dame, before starting Dalka Manufacturing. He then worked at Federal Mogul, where he retired. Mike enjoyed his Canadian fishing trips and fishing in his pond with family and friends. He also enjoyed wood working and talking -- no one was ever a stranger to Mike. A Memorial Service for Mike will be at 2:00 pm Friday, April 24th with one hour prior to visit with family in ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 1827 E. Ireland Rd., South Bend, IN 46614. Memorial contributions for Mike may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, 230 West Monroe Street #200, Chicago, IL 60606 or Hospice in Plymouth, 112 S. Center Street, Plymouth, IN 46563.
