At a little after 7 p.m. the Police receid a call of a burglary in progress at his home. When Police arrived, they could find no attempt of entry and no one around the house. Police tried to persuade Barczykowski to put away the shotgun, but he told Police he wanted to keep it in case someone broke in later. He had his wife sitting in the dark in the kitchen near the phone. later his wife went to bed, but he insisted on staying up and wtching the house. She got up about 1 a.m. and tried to get him to put the gun awy. Less than 15 min. later, she heard a muffled sound in the living room.
