SOUTH BEND - Blanche passed away peacefully with her son by her side at the Sanctuary of St. Paul's on Monday morning, May 25, 2015. Born October 4, 1914, to Walter & Sophia (Szynski) Krol, she was the 5th of 8 children. Following the death of her mother, Walter married Stella Czewinski, who helped raise her from the age of 6. Preceded in death by her parents and stepmother, also her brothers, Stanley, Sylvester, Aloysius, Harry & John Krol; sisters, Gladys Pajakow-ski, Genevieve Szyman-owski; and stepsisters, Mary Cwidak, Catherine Trzaskowski. On June 29, 1940, Blanche married Frank Cenova, who died in 1999. She is survived by three sons, Nick & Kathy (Jozwiak) Cenova of South Bend, Tim & Jane (Pugh) of St. Louis, and Chris & Peggy (Paddock) of Hagerstown, Indiana; six grandchildren, Stephen (Joann) Cenova, Judy and Amy Cenova, Andrea Kitson, Valerie Cenova, Elizabeth (Ryan) Betts; two great-grandchildren, Kenley, Claire; and two step-great-grandchildren, Lucas & Savanna; also many numerous nieces and nephews, who all attended her 100th birthday celebration last October. Blanche worked at Wilson Bros., Sobenites and retired in 1979 from School City of South Bend after 15 years of service in food services. Even as she worked she was also a homemaker and excellent baker. Anytime there was any kind of family gathering you could always plan on chocolate chip cookies, at least one or two pies (Chocolate Dream Pie or Purple Pie (Blueberry) and a cheesecake, all favorites of the grandchildren. The family would like to thank the 3rd floor staff of the Sanctuary of St. Paul's Healthcare facility, especially Sara, Manda, Melissa, Simon, Mary Belle, Kristin, Eldon, Dr. Kolbe, and many others, for all their wonderful assistance and care over the last 3 ½ years. Visitation for Blanche will be 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm Sunday, May 31, 2015, in ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 824 S. Mayflower Rd., where a Parish Rosary together with St. Casimir's Married Men's Club will be prayed at 5:00 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am Monday, June 1, 2015, in Holy Family Catholic Church. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Holy Family Catholic Church, 56405 Mayflower Rd., South Bend, Indiana 46619.
