Ron Mize, 72, formerly of Mishawaka, passed away on Thursday, April 14, 2022, in Fort Myers, FL. Ron was born in Mishawaka on August 8, 1949, to the late Raymond and Phyllis (Boyer) Mize. On September 1, 1979, he married the former Linda Shaffer who preceded him in death on December 6, 1999. Also preceding him in death is his sister, Rhonda Wickizer and his son-in-law, Daniel Coussens. Surviving Ron is his daughter, Jessica Coussens; grandchildren, Ryan Coussens (Britni) and Nicole (Robert) Wescott of Tolleson, AZ; great grandchildren, Rylee and Hadley Wescott; brother, Richard (Mary) Mize of Winchester, IN; sister, Diana Mize; and brother-in-law, Bob Wickizer. Ron is a 1968 graduate of Mishawaka High School. He worked at Comcast Cable as a Lineman for almost 30 years until his retirement. Ron enjoyed ballroom dancing and made many great friends wherever he went. He loved to travel across the U.S and other countries which included Costa Rica, Vietnam and Israel. Ron hiked parts of The Appalachian Trail and loved to share stories of the beauty of it and the amazing people he met. He moved to the beautiful state of Florida where he hiked, biked and kayaked as often as he could. Ron seemed to always have an adventure planned. He found a wonderful home and made many friends in the Sunny Grove Community. Ron was a wonderful father, grandfather and great grandfather and he was so proud to have those titles. He loved his family and was so proud of his siblings, nieces, nephews, extended family and the friends that became family. Ron’s positive attitude and joy for life will be missed by all who knew him. Visitation will be Tuesday, May 3rd from 3:00 to 5:00 pm at Hahn Funeral Home, 505 W. 8th Street, Mishawaka, IN with a Memorial Service to begin at 5:00 pm. Ron will be laid to rest in Fairview Cemetery in Mishawaka.
