Norman E. Motts, 88, of Goshen, died Sunday at 3:55 a.m. at Greencroft Healthcare, Goshen. He moved from South Bend to Goshen in 1998.. He was born April 11, 1922 in South Bend, to Edward T. and Elva (Linard) Motts.. He married Clara M. Pschigoda Sept. 24, 1955, in St. Joseph, Michigan. She survives.. Also surviving are a niece, Nancy (Jim) Myers; and a nephew, Craig (Donna) Kretchman, both of Niles, Mich.; three great-nieces and two great-nephews.. Norman was preceded in death by an infant son, Roy Norman Motts, who died in 1959; and a sister, Peggy Kretchman.. He graduated from South Bend Central High School in 1940 and Cartage Colllege, Cartage, Ill., in 1950.. He served in the United States Army's 99th Infantry Division, 324th Medical Battalion in Company D and fought in the Battle of the Bulge and was a member of the "Battle Babies." He served from November 1942 to January 1946. He separated from the sevice in January 1946 as a supply sergeant.. Norman worked for Uniroyal Rubber Co. as a paymaster for 34 years.. Friends may call Wednesday from 9 a.m. until the 10 a.m. funeral service at the Meetinghouse at Greencroft, 1225 Greencroft Drive, north entrance, Goshen. The Rev. Russell Snyder, visiting pastor of Holy Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, will officiate.. Burial will follow at Riverview Cemetery in South Bend.. Memorials may be made to Holy Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, South Bend, or Greencroft Foundation.
