Marcelle J. (Speybroeck) Niemier (aka Marcie and Babe), 88, passed on peacefully in her sleep on Sunday, October 24, 2021. Marcie was born in South Bend, Indiana, on May 3, 1933. On November 15, 1952, Marcie married Harry Niemier, who predeceased her in 2015 after 62 years of marriage. Marcie was also predeceased by an infant son, Paul Joseph, her grandson, Joshua Speybroeck Niemier, her parents, her sister, and Harry's siblings and parents. Marcie is survived by 6 children and their offspring, Susan Diedrich: Martha (Carlos) and Tyler (Traci); Kristin (Michael) Horvath: Lisa; Charles (Lois Koerner): Sara, Emily (Vince), Matthew (Hope), and Ryan (Kelly); Mary Niemier Thomas: Catherine (Jonathan), Lizzy (Aaryn) and Andrew (Lauren); Tom (Glynis Benbow) Niemier: Morgan and Kamden; and John (Theri Zimmerman) Niemier: Joshua (deceased), Jessica (Adam), Leslie (Stuart), and Lauren. In addition to her 16 grandchildren, Marcie is also survived by 24 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Marcie retired in 1998 after 25 years with First Source Bank. In retirement, Marcie enjoyed reading, reviewing her investments online, bridge games with her friends, euchre games with Harry and family or friends, volunteering at Memorial Hospital, and, in particular, attending Notre Dame women's basketball games. Marcie was a loving and attentive mother and homemaker who was well known in the neighborhood for her apple pies and chocolate chip cookies. She will be missed but not forgotten. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, October 30, 2021, at Christ the King Catholic Church. There will be a public viewing in the Church vestibule beginning at 10:30 a.m. prior to the mass. Burial will follow in Highland Cemetery.
