SOUTH BEND - John C. Kucharski, Jr., 86, of South Bend, IN, passed away on Sunday, July 22, 2012. Survivors include his wife, Monica S. Kucharski; one daughter, Victoria M. Kucharski; and one sister, May Nowicki. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, July 26, 2012, in St. Casimir Church. Friends may call from 2-4 & 6-8 Wednesday in the Kaniewski Funeral Home, where a parish Rosary will be prayed at 3:30 p.m.

SOUTH BEND - John C. Kucharski Jr., 86, of South Bend, IN, passed away at 5:10 a.m. Sunday, July 22, 2012, in Hospice House, Elkhart, IN. John was born on January 31, 1926, in South Bend, to John and Josephine (Jackowiak) Kucharski Sr., and was a lifelong resident. He retired from Bendix/Allied-Signal, where he was employed in the foundry as a Core Maker. On July 4, 1951, in St. Casimir Church, he married Monica S. Was, who survives. Other survivors include his daughter, Victoria M. Kucharski of Elkhart, IN, and his sister, Mary Nowicki of South Bend, IN. He was preceded in death by his son, Johnny in 1992; two sisters, Pauline Zmyslo and Alicia Timmons; and three brothers, Stanley, Joseph and Ted. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, July 26, 2012, in St. Casimir Church. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery. Friends may call from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. today in the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive, where a parish Rosary will be prayed at 3:30 p.m. John was a member of St. Casimir Parish. He was a WW II Marine veteran who served in the Pacific. He was a member of American Legion Pulaski Post #357, D.A.V. and V.F.W. He was a Notre Dame and Cubs fan. The family wishes to thank Dr. Frederick Scheel, Memorial Hospital E.R. doctors and nurses, and everyone at Hospice for the loving care.
