Mary Muhlherr
5/21/1967 - March 8, 2022
Mary Muhlherr Lozano, age 54, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Tuesday, March 8, 2022, and went into the loving arms of her Savior Jesus Christ. She is survived by her precious daughter and the love of her life, Isabel Lozano; her mother, Maria (Sergio) Muhlherr; her sister, Paula Muhlherr; her cherished nieces and their husbands, Ashley and Tim Baranowski and Lauren and Ben Vronko; her great-nephews whom she adored, Jonathon and Trevor Baranowski and Rowan Vronko; her aunt and Godmother, Catherine Sergio; and many cousins who loved her very much. She was preceded in death by her beloved father, Lt. Col. Joseph J. Muhlherr; her doting grandparents, Paul and Margaret Sergio and Joseph and Talitha Muhlherr; many loving aunts and uncles; and her cousin, Gene Muhlherr Jr. Mary very much looked forward to their family reunion in heaven. Mary spent her early childhood years in Alexandria, Virginia while her dad was stationed at the Pentagon, frequently making the 10-hour drive to South Bend, Indiana to visit her large and loving Italian family. She lived in South Bend with her grandparents for almost 2 years while her father was in Vietnam and spent endless hours playing with her sister Paula and their 22 first cousins. In Virginia, Mary lived near her Aunt Cathy and her cousins, Tina and Lisa. When they moved to California, Mary’s family soon followed and the two families bought houses on the same street. Several years later, Mary’s Aunt Josie and Uncle Gene, and their four children, Gene Jr., Mike, Patricia, and Margaret moved to Lodi as well, and lived on the same street. Mary often reminisced about her happy childhood years and cherished every memory of those wonderful times spent in Indiana and California with all the people she loved most in the world. Mary shared a special bond with her mother, Maria, and the two of them enjoyed cooking together. Mary’s dad was her hero, and she knew she was going straight into his loving embrace in heaven. Paula was so excited to have a baby sister, and the two of them entertained each other for hours on end. Their bedrooms were connected by a Jack and Jill bathroom, and more often than not, Mary ended up sleeping in Paula’s bed, which she didn’t mind a bit. Mary spent her early career making others beautiful as a hairstylist. She later became a Human Resources professional at Comcast, Better World Books, and the Sisters of the Holy Cross, where Mary absolutely loved the sisters and her colleagues, who treated her like family. The greatest joy in Mary’s life came from being Isabel’s mom. Isabel was the light of her life, and Mary was devoted to her. As Isabel entered her teen years, she and Mary became best friends. They shared a passion for dogs, especially their Charlie, and had so much fun doing makeovers and watching their favorite movies. Mary’s family would like to thank everyone at the Ernestine M. Raclin Hospice House for their kind and loving care in Mary’s final days. Each and every person who entered her room treated her with respect and gentleness and supported our family lovingly. We would also like to thank all of the family, colleagues and friends who visited Mary, prayed with her, shared memories with her, and showered her with love and friendship. We are forever grateful. Mary’s family will receive visitors from 10:30am-11:30am (Eastern time) on Saturday, March 12, 2022, at St. Pius X Catholic Church, 52553 Fir Road, Granger, IN 46530. A funeral Mass will take place at 11:30am, followed by a luncheon at 1:00pm. All are welcome. Those who wish to livestream the Mass may do so at www.stpius.net. Livestream will begin 10 minutes prior to the service. Donations in Mary’s memory may be made to the Ernestine M. Raclin Hospice House at 501 Comfort Place, Mishawaka, IN 46545.Online condolences may be left for the family at www.palmerfuneralhomes.com.
