WALKERTON - Ward V. Awald, 92, of St. Joseph County Road 825 North, died at 2:10 a.m. Saturday in Millers Merry Manor. Mr. Awald was a retired farmer. He was a former employee of Kingsbury Ordinance Plant and Studebaker Corp. He was bom Nov. 26, 1898, in Starke County. On Dec. 22, 1923, in South Bend, he married Kathryn Stover. She died in Feburary 1966. On Sept. 22, 1967. in Walkerton, he married Cleo Dirrim. She died Dec. 23, 1986. Surviving are a daughter, Janet Johnson of Princeton, ILL ; a son, Daniel of Walkerton; three grandchildren; two greatgrandchildren; two sisters, Fern Anderson of Koontz Lake and Hazel Schweder of Walkerton; and a brother, Robert of Walkerton. A son, Charles, died earlier. He was an Army veteran of World War I. He was a member of Starke County Farm Bureau and Walkerton United Methodist Church. Services will be Monday at 11 a.m. in the church. Burial will be in Wood-lawn Cemetery. Friends may call from 5 to 9 p.m. today in Rannells Funeral Home, Koontz Lake, and one hour before services Monday in the church. Memorial contributions may be made to the church.
