NORTH LIBERTY - Ted Krzyzewski, 94, passed away at 8am, Sunday, October 25, 2015 in Memorial Hospital. Ted was born July 21, 1921, in South Bend, to the late Alexander and Wanda (Rozanski) Krzyzewski. Ted is also preceded in death by sisters, Eugenia Klepper, Ann Urbanski, and Florence Bajdek; and brothers, John Krzyzewski, and Vincent Krzyzewski. On May 8, 1948, in St. Stanislaus Koska Catholic Church, Ted married Theresa who survives along with son, David J. (Peggy) Krzyzewski of South Bend; daughter, Rosanne V. (Bob) Evans of South Bend; grandsons, Ryan (Jennifer) Evans of Rolling Prairie, and David M. (Danielle Miller) Krzyzewski of New Carlisle; granddaughters, Shelly (Tyler) Krzyzewski-Thacker of South Bend, and Katie Krzyzewski of Mishawaka; great-granddaughter, Kerrigan Evans; and great-grandsons, Kevin Miller and Hudson Evans. Ted started his working career as an elevator operator at the JMS building. He then honorably served his country in the US Army during World War II and was a member of the VFW Post 8748, "The Hole" where he and Theresa met many of their lifelong friends and the American Legion in North Liberty. After the war he then worked at South Bend Bait and then Studebaker. He worked at Torrington for almost 30 years before retiring in 1983. He has lived in the Crumstown area for the past 65 years. He was affectionately known as the "Mayor" of Crumstown. He was one of the charter members of the Crumstown Conservation Club and a gold card member. He was also a former member of the West Side Conservation Club "Little Club". Ted and Theresa loved Polka dancing and we trust that the Lord has now allowed him to Polka dance in Heaven. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He was known as Dzia Dzia to his grandchildren and Big Dzia to his great-grandchildren. The family would like to thank all the caretakers especially, Jamie, Joyce, and Tia for their exceptional care of Ted. Visitation is 3-8pm, Wednesday, October 28, 2015 in ST.
