Shirley Wittenbrink, 87, passed away October 12, 2022, in Granger, Indiana. She was born in Muskegon, MI to John & Erma (Pratt) Sikkenga. She was preceded in death by her parents, first husband, Joseph Wojtys, and a sister, Patricia Carter. Surviving is her second husband, Larry Wittenbrink, 3 children, Leslie (Bryan) Gum of Naperville, IL, Mark (Annie) Wojtys of Crystal River, FL, Lisa (Ken) Burke of Orlando, FL, 9 grandchildren, Jessica, Tyler, Kyle, Kaitlyn, Blake, Cameron, Brandon, Alyson and Colin. Also surviving are 13 great-grandchildren, and a sister, Sandra Donovan. Shirley graduated from the University of Michigan with a bachelor's degree. She was a preschool teacher at Sunnyside Preschool, Owner of Books & Block Preschool, and a speech therapist for South Bend Community Schools. She enjoyed serving her community and volunteered at many places including, St. Therese Little Flower Church, Logan Center, Easter Seals, A.A.U.W. president, Camp Fire Girls Leader, and the Red Hat Society. Shirley was also an Alumni member of the University of Michigan and a huge fan. An avid golfer, she played in the South Bend city championship and many leagues. One of her greatest joys was participating in a bridge group for sixty years where she built lifelong friendships. The family would like to give a special thank you to the entire Wittenbrink family for all of the care they took of their mother. A Mass will be held November 5, 2022 at 11:30 a.m. at St. Therese Little Flower Catholic Church and a luncheon will follow. Memorial contributions may be given to St. Therese Little Flower Catholic Church, 54191 Ironwood Rd, South Bend, IN 46635. Elkhart Cremation Services has been entrusted with the arrangements
