[N27566] Joseph Gladura
Sept. 14, 1940 - Feb. 8, 2021

SOUTH BEND , IN - Joseph Gladura, 80, of South Bend, Indiana, passed away peacefully into God's care on Monday, February 8, 2021, after a long illness. He was born September 14, 1940 in Clarksburg, West Virginia, to the late Joseph and Mary (Esconage) Gladura. In addition to his most beloved wife, Jeannie (Trigg) of Bardstown, Kentucky, whom he married on June 13, 1987, he is survived by his children: Heidi (Doug) Dubree, Troy (Anna) Gladura, Banning (Michelle) Gladura, all of South Bend, Indiana, and Aaron (Rebecca) Gladura of Carmel, Indiana, and their mother, Karen Smith. Joe is also survived by nine grandchildren: Madeline, Aubrey, Gabriel, Jayden, Grayson, Conner, Micah, Gavin, and Joseph; and one sister, Mary Joe (Don) Grabber of Fairbanks, Alaska. Two brothers, John and Paul, both predeceased Joe. Joe graduated from Mishawaka High School in 1958 and proudly served in the U.S. Army, 1962-1966. He earned his B.S. in Accounting from IU, was an accredited CPA, and retired from Bosch Braking Systems after 25 years. Joe celebrated his love for history, music, and nature as a longtime patron of The History Museum, the South Bend Civic Theatre, the Broadway Theatre League, and the Fernwood Botanical Garden. As an active member of Clay Church, he served in various capacities and treasured both the church and his church friends. Joe especially enjoyed the Parking Lot Ministry where he could joke with members as he greeted and assisted them. Joe was a longtime fan of the Chicago Bears and Notre Dame. He so enjoyed preparing elaborate breakfasts for the ND fans that stayed at the Gladura Bed & Breakfast for many years. Joe was an avid reader, a watch collector, and a competitive Scrabble player. He took great pride in creatively cooking, mentoring children, and loved taking his grandchildren on ‘adventure' outings. Family and friends remember his abundantly generous heart, kind spirit, and witty banter. He was a man who found joy in life by making others happy - whether generating smiles in the downtrodden or as a deeply devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He freely gave to those in need, and lifted others with his loving bear hugs. Joe's survivors will hold him in their hearts forever as a Good Man - one who served the Lord with unabashed gladness and faith. A Celebration of Joe Gladura's life will be held on Saturday, February 13, 2021, at Clay Church, located at 52866 North Ironwood Road, South Bend, Indiana 46635. The family will receive visitors from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm, followed by the celebration service at 2:00 pm. Livestream access to this service can be found via: claychurch.com/live at 2pm. Memorial contributions may be made to Clay Church in honor of Joe Gladura. Online condolences can be left at www.kaniewski.com under recent obituaries.
