Alberta J. Keen, age 56, of East Michigan St. in New Carlisle, died at 3:57 a.m. Tuesday in her residence. She was born on October, 15, 1942, in South Bend, and had lived in the South Bend area all of her life. She was a former employee of the American Legion Post #297 in New Carlisle. On October 4, 1997, in South Bend, as Alberta J. Hojara, she married James F. Keen, who survives. Also surviving are four daughters, Denise Howell of New Carlisle, and Dionne Carroll, Melissa (Jason) Baker and Michelle Carroll, all of South Bend; twelve grandchildren; six sisters, Mary Jane Van Wynesberge, Patricia Ann Laymon, Veronica Gondocs, Janice Wolak, Rebecca Funkhouser and Diane Deal, all of South Bend; and one brother, Michael Hojara of South Bend. Family and friends may call from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Thursday in the St. Joseph Funeral Home, 824 S. Mayflower Road, where a Rosary will be said at 7:00 p.m. Services will be at 10:00 a.m. Friday in the funeral home. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alberta J. Keen Memorial Fund at any branch of Teachers Credit Union. Mrs. Keen was formerly a sister of St. Mary Magdalene in Cincinnati, Ohio, ABATE of South Bend, Region 1, and a member of St. Stanislaus Catholic Church.
