SOUTH BEND - Rebecca “Becky” A. Luchowski, 70, passed away on Sunday, December 3, 2017, in Memorial Hospital. Becky was born October 23, 1947, in West Virginia, to the late David Smith and Helen Elliot. Becky was also preceded in death by a father of her children, Jerry R Luchowski, and by a sister, Ruth Beard. Survivors of Becky include her children, Kim (David) Stachurski of South Bend, Melissa (Doug) Applegate of South Bend, James (Jennifer) Luchowski of Mishawaka; grandchildren, Tyler, Megan, Madison, Chad, Jamie, Kaitlyn, Austin, Jaequan, Jasmine, Jaetwanna; 14 great-grandchildren; brothers, David (Janice) Smith and Jess Elliott; sister, Janet Smith; nieces, Amanda Smith and Krista Vanover, and Nikki Stone; and beloved dogs, Presley and Sophie. Becky retired from the University of Notre Dame after 25 years. She was also a cook and bartender at Chippewa Bowl where she was affectionately called “Ma”. Becky was also a lifelong Notre Dame fan. She was an avid bowler with the SJVUSBC and Senior Fun Club, and also a member of the PNA. Becky was fun-loving, sassy, and she will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Visitation for Becky will be held 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm, December 7, 2017, in ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 824 S. Mayflower Rd., with a Funeral Service to begin at 7:00 pm in the funeral home.
