VALPARAISO - Sandra L. Pozywio, 58, of Valparaiso, passed away peacefully at 8:10 p.m. Sunday, September 6, 2015, at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center in Mishawaka. She was born on July 22, 1957, in East Chicago, Indiana, to Walter and Wanda (Lyons) Pozywio. Sandra was a nurse for 30 years, working last at St. Catherine Hospital, East Chicago. Her smile was infectious to others. Sandra was a gracious, good-hearted friend. She loved her son very much making her life revolve around him. "She was the best sister and mother you could ever have." Surviving are her son, Daniel Jackson Pozywio of Mishawaka; two brothers, Stan Pozywio of Valparaiso and Steve Pozywio of Oklahoma; several aunts, uncles, and cousins; and her two cats, Scooter and Quin. Preceding her in death were her parents and grandparents. A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Friday, September 11, 2015, at Graceland Cemetery's Chapel, 1505 E. Morthland Dr., Valparaiso, Indiana 46383. Visitation will be held from 1 p.m. until time of service at the cemetery chapel. Lakeview Funeral Home & Crematory, 247 W. Johnson Rd., La Porte, (219) 362-3100, is caring for the arrangements. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations for Jack's education.
