NEW CARLISLE - Godelieve C. Vanheste, 79, of New Carlisle, IN, passed away at 4:10 p.m. Wednesday, May 1, 2013 in her home. She was born on February 1, 1934 to the late Marcel C. and Lucille C. (Lorteeuw) Maes in Belgium, and has lived in New Carlisle, IN since 1960, coming from Belgium. Along with her parents, two brothers, Jozef Maes and Frans Maes, also preceded her in death. Godelieve was a self-employed farmer for many years. On March 29, 1960, as Godelieve C. Maes, she married Urbain C. Vanheste in Belgium. He died on December 28, 1978. Godelieve is survived by two daughters, Marlene M. (Michael) Russ of Loveland, OH and Diane D. (Frank) Gleva of New Carlisle, IN; one son, Danny D. (Cindy) Vanheste of New Carlisle, IN; four grandchildren, Karen Denny; Robyn, Nicole, and Kristy Vanheste; and many nieces & nephews, all residing in Belgium. Mrs. Vanheste was a member of St. John the Baptist Parish in South Bend, IN. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Sunday, May 5, 2013 at Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive, South Bend, IN. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, May 6, 2013 at St. John the Baptist Church, 3526 St. Johns Way, South Bend, IN. Burial will follow in Highland Cemetery.
