Steve M. Horvath, 87, passed away at 3:30 a.m. on Saturday, April 12, 2008 at the St. Joseph Regional Medical Center, South Bend. Mr. Horvath was born on September 7, 1920 in Greene Township in South Bend to the late Alex and Teresa ( Gerencser) Horvath. He has lived the past 24 years in the LaPaz area, moving from Greene Township where he lived most of his life. On June 3, 1944 in Jackson, Mississippi, he married the former Frances L. Conn.Along with his wife, Frances, of 63 years, survivors include two sons, Stephen and June Horvath of Sulphur Springs, TX and Robert and Phyllis Horvath of LaPaz; three grandchildren, David and Meleya Horvath of Knox, Becky and Bill Downey of Plymouth, and Michael Horvath of North Liberty; and five great grandchildren, Ethan and Chloe Horvath, William Downey, and Kaitlyn and Isabel Horvath. Mr. Horvath retired from Wheelabrator Frye as a welding supervisor after 17 years of employment. He was a graduate of Greene High School and served his country during WWII with the United States Army as a Military Police Sergeant for 4 years. Private visitation will be held at the Palmer Funeral Home, Lakeville. A private graveside services will also be held at the Fair Cemetery, North Liberty. Contributions in memory of Steve M.
