SOUTH BEND - Mildred S. Medich, 89, of South Bend, passed away at 8:35 a.m. Tuesday, November 9th, at Sanctuary at St. Joseph's after an extended illness. Mrs. Medich was born on November 21, 1920, in Universal, Indiana, and had resided in the South Bend area since 1947, coming from Indianapolis, IN. On May 4, 1941, in South Bend, as Mildred S. Solomon, she married Michael L. Medich Jr., who preceded her in death on July 25, 1988. She is survived by a son, Michael (Donna) Medich of South Bend; a granddaughter, Danica M. (Brian) Sadewasser of Valpraiso, Indiana; and by two great-grandchildren, Evan M. Sadewasser and Milena A. Sadewasser, all whom she loved and cherished; a sister, Rose Mandich of South Bend; and a brother, Steve (Erica) Solomon of Stevensville, MI. She was preceded in death by her parents; a grandson, Jovan Medich on September 26, 2009; a son, Steven P. (Donna) Medich of Troy, MI; and a brother, Jovan Solomon. Mrs. Medich was a hair stylist and owned Millie's Hair Salon for many years. Millie was a wonderful baker, writer, and loved canning. Most of all she loved her family dearly as they did her. She was a member of St. Peter & Paul Serbian Orthodox Church, Indiana Beauticians Association, Circle of Serbian Sisters of the Church and Aleska Shantich Choir. Visitation hours will be from 4-9 p.m. today, Nov. 11th, in the Hanley & Sons "Southwest Chapel" Funeral Home, located at West Ireland Road / Indiana 23, South Bend. A prayer service will be held at 7 p.m. today. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 12th, in the church, with Fr. Sasa Nedic officiating. Friends may call in the church one hour prior to services. Burial to follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery, South Bend. The family requests that all memorial contributions be made to the Aleksa Shantich Choir or to the Alzheimer's Association , 922 E. Colfax Ave., South Bend, IN 46617. The HANLEY & Sons "Southwest Chapel" Funeral Home handled arrangements and extends its deepest sympathy and heartfelt prayers to the Medich family.
