SOUTH BEND - Dorothy E. Janiak, 88, passed away on Tuesday, March 20, 2018 in Memorial Hospital.
Dorothy was born September 7, 1929 in Bourbon, Indiana to the late Joseph and Alice Grohowski. Dorothy married the love of her life, Stanley Janiak, who preceded her in death on November 13, 1975. Dorothy was also preceded in death by a sister and brothers, Stella Kuleshia, Chester, Stanley, Sylvester and Joseph Grohowski. Survivors of Dorothy include her children, Connie (John) Milliken of South Bend and Raymond (Cindy) Janiak of South Bend; sister, Jenny Orlicki; brother, Johnny (Maxine) Grohowski; grandchildren, Shawn (Shanna), Andrew (Kathy), Sam, John (Jenny), Justin (Danielle), and Raenell (Jeremy); and great-grandchildren, Ashley, Aidan, Nyla, Dylan, Mackenzie, Wyatt, John Jr., Jacob, Jace, Jess, Kasey, and Maddy. Dorothy retired from Enro Shirt Company where she was a seamstress; she was also a waitress at the Canton House. Dorothy was an avid Notre Dame and Chicago Cubs fan. She also loved to watch “Wheel of Fortune” and “Jeopardy”. Her family was her life. Dorothy spent a great deal of time taking care of her family, including her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Visitation for Dorothy will be held from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm, Saturday, March 24, 2018 in ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 824 S. Mayflower Rd. A Funeral Ceremony will take place at 3:00 pm on Saturday, March 24, 2018 in the funeral home. Burial will take place in St. Joseph Cemetery at a later date.
