South Bend - Carol M. Duszynski, 78, passed away surrounded by her family on Sunday, August 22, 2021. Carol was born June 26, 1943 in South Bend to the late Joseph and Lucille (Demein) Sloma. On October 26, 1963 Carol married her loving husband, Robert "Dewey" Duszynski, he preceded her in death on March 15, 2016. Left to cherish the memory of Carol are her children, Susan (Jeff) Tonn, Brian (Julie) Duszynski, and Ronald (Katie) Duszynski; grandchildren, Samantha (Zach) Krieg, Brittany (Cody Bruette) Duszynski, Nathan Duszynski, and Maggie Duszynski; great-granddaughter, Sophia Krieg; and a brother, David (Joyce) Sloma. Carol was a parishioner at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, and a member of the Rosary Sodality. She was also a member of the Red Hat Society, Tawny Brook Ladies Group, and Church Secretaries Ladies Group. Carol volunteered for Memorial Hospital, AKA "Cookie Lady" and the Breast Care Center. Carol graduated from St. Joseph Catholic High School and remained in contact with her classmates. She worked for GL Perry and was very well known as the "Cake Lady of the West Side" for her delicious wedding cakes and other treats. Carol enjoyed traveling with her husband, shopping and daily dinners out with friends. Visitation for Carol will be 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm Sunday, August 29, 2021 in ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, Mayflower Rd. with a Rosary to be prayed at 2:30 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am on Monday, August 30, 2021 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church.
