Dale McDaniel 86 of Indianapolis, passed away, June 28, 2010. He was born in South Bend, IN on July 1, 1923 to the late Estherlyn and Leslie McDaniel. He was a graduate of Murray State University in Kentucky, and was a combat veteran in the South Pacific during WWII. Dale worked for Indiana Bell Telephone Co. for 30 years as a Yellow Pages Directory advertising salesman, and was a member of Telephone Pioneers. He was also a member of American Legion Post 34, VFW Post 7119 and St. Luke's United Methodist Church. Dale is survived by his wife of 39 years, Marlene (Jaworski) McDaniel; sister, Mirilyn McDaniel and her family of Mishawaka. His brothers, Norman and Charles preceded him in death. Dale had four daughters, Patricia (husband Chuck) Gapinski and Leslie Hoerstman of South Bend, and the late Anita Archie and Patricialyn Johnson; he is also survived by many grand and great-grandchildren. Dale was an avid golfer and card player. All will miss his playful spirit. Special thanks from the family are expressed to his wonderful caregivers and friends for their prayers, visits, calls, cards and support. A memorial service will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, July 1, at St. Luke's United Methodist Church, Indianapolis, IN, with a reception following in the church parlor. Memorial contributions may be sent in Dale's name to Murray State Football Scholarship Fund, 106 Development Center, Murray, KY 42071. Graveside inurnment services with military rites will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 6, at Woodlawn Cemetery in Walkerton, IN. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Flanner and Buchanan Funeral Center - Broad Ripple; their website www.flannerbuchanan.com features an on-line guest registry where friends may share thoughts with the family.
