William Jay “Bill” Wines

William Jay “Bill” Wines, 62, of New Carlisle, Indiana, and formerly of Buchanan, Michigan, passed away peacefully at 8:55 a.m., Monday, June 25, 2012 at the Center for Hospice, South Bend, Indiana. Lakeview Funeral Home and Crematory is caring for the arrangements. He was born July 6, 1949 in Michigan City, Indiana to Ernest Ray and Neralda (Jones) Wines. Mr. Wines served his country honorably in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam era. He worked for Technisand Corporation (formerly known as Manley Bros.) in Bridgman, Michigan for 29 years. William was a member of the American Legion Post #0331 in Bridgman and a former member of the V.F.W. in Niles, Michigan. Bill loved the outdoors, and enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and mushroom hunting. Survivors include three children, Chad (Jacqui) Wines of New Carlisle, Indiana, Brandy (Jose) Pinto of Grove City, Ohio and Jeremy (Shiloe) Wines of Eau Claire, Michigan; eight grandchildren, Chad Wines, II, Isabelle, Alexandra and Caitlyn Pinto, Austin, Logan and Jeremy Wines, II and Ariel Wines; three sisters, Nancy (James) Kirk of Bridgman, Janet Wolkins and Judy Van Lue, both of Buchanan; two brothers, Albert (Donna) Wines of Glendora, Michigan and John (Sandy) Wines of Walkerton, Indiana. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Sandra (Wawrzynski) Wines on January 14, 1984 and one son, Joshua Wines on January 21, 2012. A memorial service celebrating his life will be held at 5 p.m., Friday, June 29, 2012 at Lakeview Funeral Home and Crematory, 247 W. Johnson Road, La Porte (219) 362-3100 with Pastor John Marron officiating. Full military honors will be conducted by the LaPorte honor guard following the services. A visitation will be held from 3 p.m. until time of service on Friday at the funeral home.
