Slavko Ruzicic, 89, of Chicago, IL passed away at 10:50 am Monday, January 5, 2015 in Hospice House, South Bend. He was born May 25, 1925 in Crnjelovo, Bosnia and immigrated to the United States. Slavko served in the Yugoslavian Army during World War II and was held as a POW for two years. He then went on to serve active duty in the United States Army. Upon his return to Chicago, he worked as a tool and die maker for ITW before retiring. Slavko is survived by his daughter and son in law, Anica and Larry Sabinas of Granger; grandson, Carl Sabinas of South Bend; and brothers, Ponta (Carol) Ruzicic of Skokie, IL and Simo (Christina) Ruzicic of Chicago, IL; as well as several brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews in Serbia and Bosnia. Funeral services for Slavko will be held at 11:00 am CST Saturday, January 10, 2015 at the Chapel at St. Sava Serbian Orthodox Cemetery, 32377 N. Milwaukee Avenue, Libertyville, IL. Rev. Darko Spasojevic will officiate. Palmer Funeral Home - Hickey Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be donated to Holy Resurrection Serbian Orthodox Cathedral, 5701 North Redwood Drive, Chicago, IL 60631.
